The Genetic Underground was one of those rare events that marked a zeitgeist - where a confluence of biotech advancements and youth culture synthesized to give us a glimpse of the future. The event was organized under the umbrella of our startup SciFind to celebrate our online community.

The Genetic Underground was an immersive experience where 600 scientists came together to celebrate the Genetic Engineering scientific community. The event featured genetically modified consumer products & innovations for guests to sample, from Z-Biotics' hangover-prevention elixir, to Bloody Marys made with super-antioxidant-enriched purple tomatoes, to bio-luminescent glow sticks. Live liquid crystallography demonstrations were projected from a microscope over the dance floor while musical guests played live sets for party-goers.
It was organized under the umbrella organization, SciFind, amongst other sponsors such as Z-Biotics, Synonym, and other biotech community builders. Through the event, SciFind was able to add +350 new community members to to the online platform and raise $400k in pre-seed funding.
Thanks to our event sponsors, performers, and collaborators who contributed to making this a night for the ages. Shout-out to Emma Volodchinskaia for her incredible graphic design work.
